*Stop Whaling Right Now under the name of "Research"

●捕鯨をやめよう！(I am against Whaling and we should stop whaling right now! We, the Japanese has been doing whaling under the name of “Research”, about which all of us know it is a fake. One of my boys whom I have been teaching said, he has eaten a whale in somewhere in a very expensive restaurant. Then I asked him where he ate, but he said, “My dad told me it is a secret between us and Dad told me not to tell anyone about it.” We have been killing whales for food. Australian people are angry, very angry about the Japanese whaling. Stop whaling right now or you should see the film “Earth”, produced by BBC in England. You will know it is really a matter of stupidity after seeing the film. They are highly intelligent creatures like us, human-beings. How come are we so stupid?

オーストラリアから来た友人に、こう聞いた。
日本へ来て、何に驚いたか、と。
彼にしてみれば、１５年ぶりの来日である。
その彼（５６歳）が、こう言った。

オーストラリアでは、毎日、日本の捕鯨問題が
新聞のトップ記事になっている。
日本では、それがほとんどといってよいほど、
報道されていない。それに驚いた、と（０８年２月）。

捕鯨問題は、現在進行形で、日豪関係に、
暗い影を落としつつある。たいへん暗い
影である。

「調査捕鯨」というバカげた名前の捕鯨は、
やめよう。「調査」だと？

結局は、食用のためではないか。

こんな話もある。

私は封切り日に、「ＥＡＲＴＨ（アース）」という
映画を見てきた。
それについて、子どもたちに、「クジラを食べるの
はもうやめよう」と言うと、１人の子ども（小学生）
がこう言った。

子「ぼく、クジラを食べたことがある」
私「どこで？」
子「だめだよ。パパが、内緒だって、言ってた」
私「浜松で食べたの？」
子「だから、言えないの。パパに怒られる」と。

雰囲気からすると、どこかの高級料亭で、料理として
出されたらしい。

日本人にとって、クジラというのは、そういうもの
である。
